Position Overview:
Under the direction of the Head Coach, this position independently performs and is responsible for:
- Assisting the Head Coach in the coordination of a safe, enthusiastic, and growing sports program.
- Coaching, supervision, management, retention, and recruitment of NAIA student-athletes under the guidelines of the college, KCAC, and NAIA policies.
- Working with all staff to provide a quality program and encourage student-athletes in both athletic excellence and good sportsmanship.
Essential Functions:
- Student Development & Retention: Lead and prioritize student retention with a positive, nurturing program; foster an environment of growth and support both in and out of sport.
- Program Administration: Assist in formulating competitive schedules, training student-athletes for safe competition, and administering all phases of an NAIA program, including recruiting qualified athletes.
- Compliance & Budgeting: Adhere to College, KCAC, and NAIA policies; follow recruitment scholarship models and all College spending/budgetary procedures.
- Fundraising & Promotion: Actively lead fundraising efforts for the sport program and the Department of Athletics; lead community engagement and service-learning opportunities.
- Operations & Logistics: Assist in planning conditioning programs, conducting individual student-athlete meetings, managing team records, and arranging team travel and meals.
- Safety & Maintenance: Oversee facility safety conditions at all times and assist in the general upkeep and protection of program equipment.
- Collaboration: Work in cooperation with other departments and academic divisions; participate in staff meetings and provide input for process improvements.

Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Regular attendance
- Excellent grammar, spelling, and writing abilities
- Microsoft Office, computer knowledge, and knowledge of office equipment
- Ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences, including students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, administration, and the community-at-large
- Ability to handle multiple projects/assignments concurrently and be very results-oriented
- Highly motivated and works well both independently and in a team environment
Preferred:
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus, or some knowledge of the Spanish language is a plus
- Experience with NAIA recruitment and scholarship models.
Working Conditions:
- Work involves minimal exposure to physical risks but includes exposure to biological hazards and communicable diseases.
- Outside work involves considerable exposure to extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, and loud noises.
- The role requires frequent conference-wide travel and frequent prolonged/irregular hours.
- Physical demands include sitting, standing, walking, and lifting as required to file documents or store materials.
