Job Summary

Under limited supervision, the Business Systems Analyst supports IT goals and objectives by working closely with Project Managers, IT Managers, and business stakeholders to ensure application development and implementation meets the business requirements. Work with internal and external off-site Project Managers, Technical Designers and Developers, and other key stakeholders to identify and document requirements and use cases in a manner that is accurate and meaningful to business and IT professionals. This position also demonstrates leadership in the team environment.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Must have prior DQ Business Systems Analyst experience and a proven understanding of the use case documentation process.
• Work with Project Managers and other key stakeholders (IT Managers, IT Designers and Developers, and Subject Matter Experts (SME's)) to develop and document requirements and use cases in a manner that is clear, accurate, meaningful, and understood by all.
• Facilitate IT and business use case walk-thru sessions.
• Mentor less experienced Business Systems Analysts; review use case documentation and provide constructive feedback.
• Must maintain a thorough understanding of DQ's business practices and the applications/systems that support them.
• Work with IT and business users to evaluate options and recommend solutions in line with IT and/or business architecture.
• Develop reusable templates and maintain Business Systems Analyst methodology.
• Prepare documentation using tools such as Visio, Word and Excel.
• Identify and implement process improvements.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work with Project Managers and other key stakeholders (IT Managers, IT Designers and Developers, and Subject Matter Experts (SME's)) to develop and document requirements and use cases in a manner that is clear, accurate, meaningful, and understood by all.
• Must understand all business practices and the applications/systems that support them.
• Lead and participate in business analysis tasks; collaborate with key stakeholders to identify, analyze, and document project requirements and structure work accordingly.
• Analyze complex problems and produce clear options / recommendations on how to proceed.
• Manage and plan in a fast-paced, team-focused environment; manage time and prioritize tasks and projects.
• Work closely with business stakeholders to understand current state challenges, their root causes and future state requirements and to develop detailed future state designs.
• Interact side by side with customers and stakeholders, finding what problems and pain points they deal with on a day-to-day basis.
• Provide functional validation and support.
• Define business requirements and perform gap analysis.
• Provide guidance to the developers on design, development, and testing.
• Ensure that prioritized solutions are delivered in a timely manner.

• Understanding of IT environment and architecture. Must have demonstrated expertise in more than one technical area with a proven working knowledge in related areas of expertise (e.g., languages, applications, business analysis, etc.).
• BS or equivalent and 5-7+ years' experience in computer sciences or related field, or equivalent combination

Required Experience:

• At least 5+ years of work experience as a Business System Analyst, Business Analyst, or equivalent experience.
• Healthcare/Insurance experience preferred.
• General understanding of claims operations (adjudication and processing) preferred.
• Experience in writing Function requirement Specification (FRS) / Functional Specification document (FSD) from the Business Requirement Document (BRD)
• SQL Experience preferred.
