Paramedic Duties

This is a competitive vacancy announcement advertised under Delegated Examining Authority. Selections made under this vacancy announcement will be processed as new appointments to the civil service. Current civil service employees would therefore be given new appointments to the civil service; however, benefits, time served, and all other Federal entitlements would remain the same.

1. Performs Paramedic duties by identifying and treating trauma and/or medical emergencies using knowledge and skill in emergency medicine techniques.
2. Performs a range of diagnostic support duties using acquired knowledge of the major body systems to provide patient care and ensure appropriate patient handling.
3. Assists with moving, lifting, and carrying patients to emergency vehicles and appropriate treatment facility.
4. Performs safety and maintenance inspection on emergency and patient transport vehicles and equipment.
5. Independently conducts a complete assessment using advance knowledge of topographic anatomy.
6. Physical Demands: The work involves walking, sitting, standing, reaching and bending in the assessment and treatment of patients.
