Mechanical & Structural Engineering Manager

Mechanical & Structural Engineering Manager Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) seeks an experienced Mechanical & Structural Engineering Manager to lead the Integrated Design Engineering (IDE) team within the Space, Intelligence & Weapons Systems (SI&WS) division in Huntsville, AL. The role supports the Integrated Air & Missile Defense (IAMD) program portfolio, including the Boeing Patriot Advanced Capability 3 (PAC‑3) Seeker and the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (ABMD) product lines. Key Responsibilities Manages, develops, and motivates a multidisciplinary team of engineering and technical personnel. Leads the development of new design/analysis processes and tools to improve effectiveness, quality, and efficiency. Manages performance, budgets, schedules, and technical standards across multiple projects. Coaches and mentors team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Coordinates with cross‑functional groups, manufacturing, systems engineering, and stakeholders for integrated solutions. Develops and administers integrated departmental initiatives, plans, policies, and procedures. Acquires resources, manages suppliers, and leads process improvements and training initiatives. Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes. Ensures engineering commitments are met, risks and opportunities are effectively managed, and safety, quality, and schedules are upheld. Basic Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited institution. 10+ years of experience leading engineering teams. 3+ years of formal management experience. Strong mechanical engineering knowledge and experience solving complex problems. Experience managing budgets, schedules, and performance standards. Preferred Qualifications Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Understanding of Boeing Engineering Standards and Design Practices. Strong ability to build trust and connection with team and stakeholders. Experience with Boeing Common Non‑Recurring Product Development (C‑NRPD) or equivalent processes.
