Job Description We are continuing to expand and grow! Inova is looking for dedicated Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonographers to join the team. We have PRN, Part-time and Full-time positions available across multiple sites. Full-time positions are eligible for a sign-on bonus and relocation assistance. Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonographer Specialty Job Responsibilities Communicates effectively with the patient to obtain clinical maternal‑fetal history and informed consent, and explains procedures to patients/families, answering questions to ease anxiety and ensure cooperation; assists physicians in performing CVS, amniocentesis, and image‑optimisation studies using departmental protocols to provide optimum results. Demonstrates a thorough understanding of maternal‑fetal ultrasound principles and theory; possesses specialised fetal anatomy, pathology, and physiology knowledge; uses this knowledge to position patients for optimal image quality while ensuring comfort and safety; enhances procedures with additional modalities and views based on identified disease processes and fetal anomalies; selectively presents images to the physician; measures maternal‑fetal structures accurately; acts as a resource to students, nurses, fellows and other technologists; records all data, images, and technical notes for preliminary reporting. Participates in department/hospital performance‑improvement initiatives, in‑services, and meetings, with attendance records documented. Uses proper cleaning techniques on all ultrasound transducers; follows correct high‑level disinfection procedures according to hospital policies; maintains disinfection device logs; keeps equipment, exam rooms, and work areas neat and safe to ensure patient and employee safety. Minimum Qualifications Certification – Basic Life Support (BLS) upon start; successful completion of the Inova Nuchal Translucency (NT) Program required within 6 months for team members without the NT certification; registered diagnostic medical sonographer – obstetrics & gynecology upon start. Licensure – none required. Experience – two years of hospital or doctor's office‑based experience performing specialised maternal‑fetal sonography detecting fetal anomalies.
