As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide high‑quality clinical services, drive improvement initiatives, and support patients’ recovery plans. Brief Job Description The Staff Psychiatrist performs advanced psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. You will work closely with the Recovery Team, medical staff, and family to develop individualized, person‑centered care plans, execute medication management, and participate in quality‑improvement activities. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and develop individualized recovery plans. Administer medication management, monitor lab work, and document therapeutic decisions in the electronic health record. Lead and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, quality‑improvement committees, and audits in accordance with Joint Commission, CMS, TAC, and state policies. Provide direct patient care and oversee acute psychiatric interventions, including emergency restraints and crisis treatment. Collaborate with other clinicians to ensure coordination of care and integration of psychiatric and neurological treatments. Offer guidance, training, and supervision to nursing and other clinical staff as appropriate. Monitor system data trends related to psychiatric care quality, identify areas for improvement, and implement necessary changes. Participate in disaster response and continuity of operations activities as needed. Essential Job Functions Maintain up‑to‑date physician–patient relationships, initiating contact upon admission. Review and adjust treatment plans based on lab results, clinical progress, and evidence‑based guidelines. Engage in medication reviews, restraint‑reduction efforts, and the application of state formulary guidelines. Communicate findings and collaborate with families, guardians, and the local community to ensure continuity of care. Serve on medical staff committees and sub‑committees (e.g., Utilization Management, Infection Control, Pharmacy). Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Deep knowledge of general medical and psychiatric assessment procedures. Expertise in creating and implementing person‑centered psychiatric recovery plans. Proficiency with electronic health record systems and Microsoft Office applications. Strong diagnostic and treatment skills, including psychiatric medication management and monitoring of polypharmacy. Effective communication with interdisciplinary teams and the ability to facilitate consensus orientation. Analytical skills to review performance data, conduct audits, and contribute to continuous quality improvement. Licensure and Certifications The applicant must possess an unrestricted Texas medical license and be board‑certified or board‑eligible in psychiatry (completed residency). Initial Screening Criteria Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) required. Minimum three years’ experience as a psychiatrist. At least twelve months of experience treating patients with psychiatric disorders. Additional Information Applicants must pass fingerprint criminal background checks, drug screening, and registry checks. Must be at least 18 years old (21 for the Waco Center for Youth). Male applicants 18‑25 must register with the Selective Service. Flexible work hours may be required, including overtime and extended shifts. Full immunization against hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis, and influenza is required; influenza vaccine may be waived with mask wearing if desired.
