Interventional Radiology Physician Assistant - Southwest Medical Imaging

Southwest Medical Imaging Ltd. (SMIL) is currently seeking a Physician Assistant to work in the Interventional Radiology section.

This hospital-based position involves working with nine IR Physicians and seven other Physician Assistants.

The responsibilities of the IR Physician Assistants include the following:

• Schedule- Mon-Fri, no call, no weekends.
• Become proficient in performing a wide scope of minor procedures, including central venous catheter, port-a-catheter, and PIC catheter placement and removal; paracentesis; thoracentesis; bone marrow biopsy; lumbar puncture; myelogram; joint aspiration and injection; nasogastric tube placement; chest tube placement, exchange, and removal; drainage catheter exchange and removal (including abscess, biliary, gastrointestinal, and urinary catheters); and simple soft tissue biopsy.
• Assist in the performance of direct patient care services, including inpatient consults and inpatient rounding.
• Obtain medical histories, perform physical examinations, and diagnose and treat illnesses.
• Order and interpret laboratory and radiographic studies.
• Develop and implement patient management plans and record progress notes.
• Field phone calls from patients, referring physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals regarding the coordination of patient care.
• Educate patients on their medical care.
• Perform any other duties, as assigned.

Desired professional skills and experience:

• Applicants with prior Interventional Radiology, Surgery, or Emergency Medicine experience are preferred.
• Applicants must be graduates of an ARC accredited PA program with active NCCPA certification, DEA license, Arizona state license, and BLS/ACLS certification.

Compensation:

The salary range for this position is $135,000 - $160,000. Final determinations may vary based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, geographic location etc. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
