POSITION SUMMARY

The Production Manager is responsible for the direct supervision of production supervisors and overall leadership of the production team. This role drives efficient and safe operations within a fast-paced printing and manufacturing environment by optimizing processes and managing day-to-day production schedules and activities. The position is accountable for improving performance using technology, machine efficiency, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), Lean practices, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Production Manager must bring strong leadership, a continuous improvement mindset, and hands-on experience with pressroom, die cutting, and converting/finishing operations to drive improvements in uptime, throughput, quality, and cost.

 

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

· Lead and manage daily production operations to meet targets in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity

· Direct, coach, and develop production supervisors and hourly team members, including temporary staff

· Monitor and improve key performance metrics such as OEE, downtime, waste, throughput, and efficiency

· Partner with Maintenance, Engineering, and Quality teams to resolve production issues and improve equipment reliability

· Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean principles, focusing on waste reduction and process optimization and standardization

· Oversee printing, converting, die cutting, and finishing operations to ensure quality, efficiency, and adherence to customer specifications

· Plan and coordinate production schedules, staffing, materials, and equipment to meet customer demand

· Build a high-performing team through training, cross-training, and performance management

· Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and operational standards while fostering a positive, accountable work environment

· Maintain accurate production reporting, analyze trends, and communicate results to leadership

· Support daily production huddles and promote 5S and standard operating procedures across all shifts

· Collaborate with HR on employee relations, performance management, and workplace concerns

JOB REQUIREMENTS

· Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred

· Minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience in a printing/manufacturing environment

· Strong knowledge of printing processes (flexographic, digital, or offset), and converting/finishing operations

· Experience with die cutting systems (flatbed, rotary, or similar) and production workflows

· Proven leadership and team-building skills with the ability to drive accountability and results

· Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with ERP systems and production reporting tools

· Ability to analyze data to drive improvements in efficiency, productivity, and waste reduction

· Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies

· Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver under pressure
