The Clark County Educational Service Center is looking for a paraprofessional for the 2026-27 school year. The job description is as follows:

Job Objectives
Performs a variety of classroom support services under the supervision of an assigned teacher. Facilitates student participation in appropriate learning activities.
Qualifications
Meets all mandated state/federal qualifications as demonstrated by completion of higher education credit hour requirements, approved degree program, or successful passage of a sanctioned professional standards assessment.
- Meets all mandated health requirements (e.g., a negative tuberculosis test, etc.).
- A record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.
- Complies with drug-free workplace rules and board policies.
- Valid Ohio Department of Education Permit appropriate for the assignment.
- Ability to physically assist students as needed. Ability to lift up to forty pounds as a condition of initial and on-going employment. A pre-employment skill test may be required.
- Self-directed and able to learn required skills for the position.
- Congenial disposition and strong diplomacy skills. Note: Appointment may require successful completion of communicable disease, child abuse and neglect, CPR, first aid, and/or behavioral management training.
Responsibilities

Functions:
- Checks with the teacher for instructions. Works with small groups and/or individual students. Seeks advice when expectations are unclear.
- Upholds board policies and follows administrative guidelines and procedures.
- Promotes a favorable image of the service center and participating school districts.
- Helps students with remedial and/or enrichment activities. Reinforces materials introduced by the teacher. Maintains a positive learning environment.
- Offers help when students ask or their behavior suggests they need assistance. Avoids being intrusive. Solves student concerns discreetly.
- Supports an inclusive educational environment. Helps students with disabilities participate in appropriate learning activities as directed.
- Actively participates in programmed recreational activities as directed.
- Respects personal privacy. Maintains the confidentiality of privileged information.
- Takes precautions to ensure safety. Watches for problem situations. Works with supervisors and other staff to eliminate unacceptable conditions and/or behaviors.
- Maintains high standards and upholds the student conduct code. Works with the classroom teacher to address persistent behavior problems. Helps prepare a crisis response plan to address aggressive student behavior.
- Charts student behavior as directed. Encourages a positive outlook, reliability, punctuality, active participation, cooperation, accountability, etc.
- Supervises non-classroom activities as directed (e.g., arrival/departure, lunch, recess, field trips, library, computer lab, etc.).
- Promotes the proper use, care, and storage of supplies and equipment.
- Reports student discipline problems, vandalism, and other related concerns.
- Reports suspected child abuse and/or neglect to civil authorities as required by law.
- Performs clerical work related to classroom activities. Prepares and distributes teaching materials. Maintains records as directed.
Keeps program areas orderly (e.g., stores equipment, shelves books, cleans spills, etc.).
- Participates in conferences and other required program activities as directed.
- Participates in staff meetings and professional growth opportunities as directed.
- Wears appropriate work attire and maintains a neat appearance.
- Strives to develop rapport and serves as a positive role model for others.
- Performs other specific job-related duties as directed.
