Associate Attorney

Location: Hybrid - New York, New York, United States Skills: Commercial and Civil Litigation, Deposition and Trial Practice, Motion Practice and Legal Writing, Case Management and Client Relations About the Law Practice Industry / The Opportunity: Join a growing civil litigation practice handling sophisticated, high-stakes matters for businesses, institutions, insurers, and individuals. This is an opportunity to build a meaningful litigation practice, work directly with experienced trial lawyers, and take responsibility for cases from inception through trial. The hybrid role is based in New York City and offers professional development support, benefits, and room to grow. Responsibilities: Manage a caseload from inception through post-trial, including case strategy, deadlines, and day-to-day docket management. Draft pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions, case status reports, and other litigation documents. Take depositions and participate in court conferences, oral arguments, mediations, hearings, and trials. Communicate directly with clients and carriers, and collaborate with partners, associates, paralegals, and other team members. Help drive litigation strategy and provide sound, practical guidance throughout each matter. Supervise and mentor junior associates and paralegals, as appropriate. Prioritize competing deadlines and meet annual billing expectations of approximately 2,000 hours. Must-Have Skills: Active membership in good standing with the New York Bar. Approximately 3-5 years of litigation experience. Substantive experience in commercial or civil litigation, with experience in areas such as real estate, construction, professional liability, employment practices liability, director and officer liability, or insurance coverage. Deposition experience and meaningful involvement in trial practice. Strong motion practice, legal writing, and case management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication, sound judgment, and strong organizational skills. Ability to appear in person in New York City and relevant New York courts as needed. Nice-to-Have Skills: Admission to the New Jersey Bar. Admission to a Federal District Court. Familiarity with Aderant Expert Sierra, iTimekeep, and NetDocuments.
