Competent in standardized instrument processing and decontamination to prevent the spread of infection, illness, or disease. Works independently, exercising sound judgment to support the functionality of the department by disinfecting and distributing supplies and performing equipment maintenance, testing, and setup as needed. Integrates education and technical competence to execute safe and precise sterilization procedures. Adheres to all local, state, and federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures to ensure privacy and safety to help deliver optimal patient care. Scheduling is released in 4-week increments, with availability needed for all shifts. Daily responsibilities include performing proper sterilization wrapping procedures and biological testing. Candidates should be familiar with high-level disinfection, immediate-use steam sterilization, and cleaning methods for various medical instruments and equipment. Ability to work collaboratively with team members is necessary for effective patient care and department functionality.
