Phlebotomy TechnicianPay Range: $22.24hr - $24.00hrRequirement/Must Have:Minimum of 6 months’ work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.High School Diploma or GED.Responsibilities:Assist in performing various assigned duties, trouble shooting, training and making work flow recommendations.Perform blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, and updating patient information.Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection (e.g., urine or fecal) in a clear and courteous manner.Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.Fully understand all physician orders.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.Package specimens for transport.Store specimen samples according to required temperature and place samples in appropriate collection containers.Follow specific protocols for transport to maintain the integrity of the specimen.Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Attend annual department trainings.Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.Skills:Phlebotomy.Venipuncture.Specimen Processing.Centrifugation.Data Entry.OSHA Compliance.Microsoft Office Suite.Qualification And Education:Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment as required.
