Valid driver's license preferred (for client transport); CPR/First Aid certification required, provided through NLG training if not already held.

Provided by New Life Group: DDD Core Competency training, Medication Administration, PANE (Preventing Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation), and CPR/First Aid (blended/in-person to meet N.J.A.C. 10:44A-2.7).

Job Description

"The Direct Support Professional (DSP) cares for individuals experiencing developmental or intellectual disabilities or illnesses. Core duties include helping clients complete basic housekeeping tasks, transporting clients to appointments and other social outings, and keeping clients safe from potential health hazards in their surrounding environment.

Direct Support Professionals work with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities by supporting behavior plans, teaching self-care skills, preparing meals, and assisting with laundry. Additional duties include:

Assisting clients with daily personal tasks, including bathing and dressing

Completing housekeeping tasks such as vacuuming, washing dishes, and tidying

Helping plan client appointments and organize a schedule

Coordinating transportation arrangements to appointments

Shopping for groceries and preparing meals that meet specific client dietary needs

Encouraging client engagement in social networks and communities

May perform other duties as required"
