Inventory Specialist

Meherrin Ag is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Inventory Specialist to oversee and maintain accurate inventory records at our Williamsport, Pennsylvania location. This position will play a key role in managing inventory levels, monitoring product movement, coordinating incoming and outgoing shipments, and ensuring inventory accuracy across daily operations.

The Inventory Specialist will work closely with warehouse personnel, customer service representatives, sales teams, and management to maintain efficient inventory processes and ensure products are available to meet customer needs. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and analytical skills, demonstrate attention to detail, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced agricultural distribution environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Inventory Management & Accuracy

• Maintain accurate inventory records for seed, crop protection products, and other agricultural inputs.
• Monitor daily inventory transactions, including product receipts, transfers, shipments, and adjustments.
• Conduct routine inventory counts and assist with physical inventory reconciliation.
• Identify, investigate, and resolve inventory discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate product availability to appropriate team members.
• Maintain accurate product information, lot numbers, and inventory documentation as applicable.
• Monitor aging inventory and assist management with inventory planning.

Warehouse & Logistics Coordination

• Coordinate with warehouse personnel to ensure accurate receiving, storage, and shipment of products.
• Verify incoming product receipts against purchase orders and shipping documentation.
• Assist with coordinating inventory transfers between Meherrin locations.
• Support timely and accurate fulfillment of customer and dealer orders.
• Communicate with appropriate departments regarding product shortages, discrepancies, or shipment concerns.
• Help maintain organized inventory storage and product identification systems.

Reporting & Administrative Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain inventory reports for management review.
• Assist with inventory forecasting and seasonal product planning.
• Review inventory transactions to ensure accuracy within company systems.
• Maintain organized records of inventory adjustments, product movements, and supporting documentation.
• Assist with year-end inventory procedures and reporting.
• Identify opportunities to improve inventory processes, accuracy, and operational efficiency.

Team Coordination & Operational Support

• Work closely with customer service, warehouse, sales, and management teams.
• Communicate inventory availability and potential supply concerns.
• Support seasonal operational demands, including planting season and peak shipping periods.
• Assist management with implementing inventory control procedures and best practices.
• Perform additional operational duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in inventory management, warehouse operations, logistics, or a related field preferred.
• Agricultural industry knowledge or experience with seed and crop protection products is beneficial.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Experience with inventory management software or ERP systems preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, seasonal business environment.
• Ability to identify operational inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
• Demonstrated reliability, accountability, and professionalism.

Physical Demands: This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting inventory items weighing up to 50 pounds. Employees must be able to move throughout warehouses, storage areas, and outdoor facilities. Occasional climbing, pushing, pulling, and operating material-handling equipment may be required.

Work Environment: Work is performed in a combination of office, warehouse, and outdoor agricultural and chemical storage environments. Employees may be exposed to varying weather conditions, dust, noise, agricultural products, fertilizers, and chemicals. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to company safety procedures are required.
