Primary Talent Partners has a new contract opening for a Scrum Master II with our large power and utilities client in Charlotte, NC. This is a 3-year contract with a potential for extension.
Pay: $62.00 - $72.00/hr; W2 contract, no PTO, no Benefits. ACA-compliant supplemental package available for enrollment. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must be able to sit on Primary Talent Partners W2 without sponsorship.
We are seeking a Scrum Master II/Agilist to support multiple Agile teams within a fast-paced, business-facing environment. This role will focus on driving execution, maintaining team alignment, and ensuring Agile discipline across several workstreams, including both strategic initiatives and ongoing operational support. This position is being created to provide dedicated Agile leadership for teams that do not currently have a dedicated Scrum Master resource, ensuring consistent delivery and team effectiveness. The ideal candidate will bring a strong balance of Scrum Master expertise and business analyst mindset, with the ability to keep teams organized, on track, and aligned to business priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Agile Leadership & Team Enablement
- Promote Agile best practices and continuous improvement across teams already in Scrum delivery
- Support teams across multiple workstreams with varying priorities and deliverables
- Demonstrates a strong desire to understand the work at a meaningful level, proactively identifying and driving resolution of technical blockers, dependencies, and risks to keep delivery moving forward
- Takes ownership of moving work forward by digging into complex issues, coordinating across teams, and driving technical blockers to resolution rather than simply tracking them
Delivery Execution & Coordination
- Maintain team focus, accountability, and alignment across multiple parallel initiatives and BAU workstreams
- Facilitate backlog refinement, prioritization, and sprint commitments in partnership with Product Owners
- Ensure transparency into progress, risks, and dependencies across teams
- Track and manage cross-team dependencies and ensure timely escalation/resolution

Agile Metrics & Reporting
- Capture and report on Agile metrics (velocity, burn-down, sprint progress) to monitor team health
- Drive data-informed conversations during retrospectives and planning sessions
- Provide status updates and reporting across multiple teams and stakeholders
Process Optimization & Coaching
- Coach team members and stakeholders on Agile best practices
- Reinforce adherence to Agile framework while tailoring execution to business needs
- Support teams in maintaining organized backlogs and clear, actionable work items
- Drive continuous improvement by capturing retrospective outputs and tracking follow-through
- Bring fresh perspectives and ideas for ways of working to help the team optimize and think outside of the box

- Foster a team centric culture through encouragement and support creating safe spaces for team feedback and participation
- Drive continuous improvement by capturing retrospective outputs and tracking follow-through
Project / Work Environment
- Teams operate in established sprint cycles and are highly familiar with Scrum methodologies
- Work spans multiple initiatives, including:
- Customer experience and IVR-related efforts (both new implementation and BAU support)
- Email, UI, and workforce management-related workstreams
- Scrum Master will support multiple teams simultaneously, requiring strong organization and prioritization skills
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree OR equivalent experience
- 35 years of Scrum Master / Agile experience
- Experience working in Agile environments with established Scrum teams
- Proficiency in Agile tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, or similar)
- Strong facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage multiple teams and competing priorities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting business-facing teams with BA/functional alignment (strongly preferred over pure PM background)
- Agile certifications (CSM, SAFe, etc.)
- Experience working across both project-based and BAU environments
- Experience supporting cross-functional teams in large organizations
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to connect technical work to business outcomes
