Journeyman Lineman

Job Overview Fergus Electric Cooperative, Inc. is seeking a qualified journeyman lineman for a position in Roundup, Montana. Fergus Electric Cooperative is a member-owned electric cooperative serving over 7,000 meters in Central Montana. Roundup, Montana is nestled in the foothills of the Bull Mountains and blessed with abundant wildlife. The successful candidate must possess a great attitude, good work ethic, and be committed to safety and service to co-op members. Fergus Electric is committed to having a strong safety program. The co‑op offers an excellent wage and benefit package. Qualifications Union Journeyman Lineman Certification or the ability to acquire the certificate within 12 months. High school diploma. Valid Montana Class A Commercial Driver License with an excellent driving record. Employment physical and drug screen required. Must live no more than 15 miles from Roundup headquarters. Responsibilities Construction, maintenance and repair of overhead and underground distribution and transmission systems. Knowledge of RUS specifications is preferred. Must be able to climb wood power poles. Operate digger derricks, bucket trucks, backhoes, skid steers and snowcats. Comply with OSHA safety and health rules. Perform hot work. Basic computer skills. Clear and maintain power line rights of way. Effective communication skills. Available for scheduled and unscheduled overtime during power outages and/or emergencies. Daily lifting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing as required. Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
