Test Engineer

Our client, a leader in autonomous vehicle technology, is seeking a Test Engineer to join their team. As a Test Engineer, you will be part of the Software QA Team supporting backend services critical to fleet operations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, collaboration, and a proactive mindset, which will align successfully in the organization.

Location:  Foster City, CA or San Diego, CA

Pay Range: $38/h + Benefits

What's the Job?

• Develop, maintain, and expand API integration tests using Playwright (TypeScript) to improve regression coverage for core backend workflows.
• Perform manual API testing for features, releases, hotfixes, and pre-merge validations to ensure quality and reliability.
• Monitor and triage synthetic test failures running on scheduled cron cycles across deployed environments.
• Support defect triage by identifying, reproducing, and verifying bugs across development, staging, and production environments.
• Collaborate closely with developers, QA leads, and product managers to ensure comprehensive test coverage and release readiness.

What's Needed?

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of experience as a QA/Test Engineer with a focus on large-scale backend services.
• Strong experience with TypeScript or JavaScript programming languages.
• Hands-on experience with API testing tools such as Postman, curl, or similar clients.
• Familiarity with testing management tools like JIRA and TestRail.
