Software Engineer II

CTG is seeking to fill a Software Engineer II opening for our client.

Location: Remote

Duration: 12 months

Primary Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable software applications across moderate to complex systems

• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical designs and implementations

• Perform full software development lifecycle activities including coding, testing, debugging, and deployment support

• Develop and execute unit, integration, and system test plans

• Troubleshoot and resolve application defects and performance issues across integrated environments

• Produce technical documentation, including design specifications, system diagrams, and test plans

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, QA, operations, and business stakeholders

• Ensure adherence to development standards, security guidelines, and best practices

Core Technical Requirements:

• COBOL, CICS, JCL (mainframe application development)

• Systems analysis and application design experience

• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills

• Experience with integrated, enterprise-scale application environments

Scope of Role:

• Works under general supervision of a Technology Team Lead

• Operates independently on assigned modules and medium-to-high complexity development tasks

• May support multiple concurrent projects and coordinate across technical teams

• Provides technical input into planning, estimation, and delivery activities

• Ensures applications are stable, efficient, and aligned with business needs

Supervisory/Leadership Responsibilities:

• No direct reports

• May provide informal guidance or mentorship to junior developers on project tasks

Education and Experience Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, OR equivalent experience

• 3–5 years of software engineering or application development experience

• Experience with mainframe environments and enterprise systems

• Strong experience with COBOL, CICS, and JCL

• Experience preparing technical documentation and supporting testing cycles

• Strong communication, organization, and time management skills

Preferred Experience:

• Financial services or regulated industry experience

• Exposure to production support and application maintenance

• Experience working with enterprise integration environments

• Familiarity with SDLC tools and methodologies

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $46.64 to $77.74/hour. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. In addition to salary, a competitive benefit package is also offered.
