Description Job Summary Responsible to assist in oversight of property budgets, staff payroll, and overall finances. This skilled position is ideal for candidates who enjoy accounting and customer service. Property accountants are detail-oriented employees and work with a high ethical standard. They also get to enjoy the perks of working at a resort without working the nontraditional hours that other staff often experience. Duties and responsibilities The role of the Property Accountant is to complete work with high ethical standards to process invoices, work on the properties account receivables and accounts payables, and assist the property management team by preparing and providing timely reports regarding the properties overall budget. Guest Relations Management Be readily available and approachable for all guests. Take a proactive approach when dealing with guest’s concerns. Always extend professionalism and courtesy to guests. Financial Management Accurately provides reports to assist management in forecasting revenue/expenses. Provide reports to anticipate revenue/cost problems and manage the timing of discretionary expenditures to stabilize cash flow. Assists the management team in analyzing financial and operation information on ongoing basis to adjust business plans, labor requirements and operating costs. Is trained in financial control procedures for cash, vouchers, inventories and receivables and that these procedures are regularly followed. Produces accurate, timely financial reports. Identifies major revenue and expense opportunities and possible problems and provides information to property management team. Operations Management Knows local health and safety codes and regulations that apply to the property. Understands and follows policies and procedures for the property key control system. Requirements Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Qualifications include: Highly motivated team player with strong initiative and desire for achievement. Excellent communication, computer and presentation skills. Ability to work both with a team and alone. Ability to recruit and maintain team members with a passion to serve Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly. Must work well in stressful high-pressure situations. Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure. Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace including anticipating preventing identifying and solving problems as necessary. Prior knowledge of balancing budgets and understanding how different money habits affect overall financial performance. Ability to analyze financial data, organize it, and present it in a clear and professional manner. Knowledge and ability to execute generally accepted accounting principles. Working Conditions Property team members are generally exposed to a variety of shifts that include a variety of hours, weekends, and holidays due to the 24-hour operation of a property. The common workplace environment in properties involve high levels of interaction with guests, employees, and managers. The number of hours you will be scheduled to work during the week is variable and is based on guest occupancy, season, staffing and other factors. Island Hospitality is unable to guarantee a specific number of work hours per week. Additional Responsibilities Any other duties assigned by Supervisor.
