Embedded Software Engineer

We’re hiring: Embedded Software Engineer Build software that controls the physical world—and help advance the future of clean nuclear energy. Cleared2Hire is recruiting an Embedded Software Engineer for a mission-driven team working to make nuclear energy more affordable. This is a hands-on opportunity to develop safety-critical software for industrial systems, working alongside engineers and scientists across electrical, mechanical, chemical, and nuclear disciplines. What you’ll do: Develop embedded firmware in C/C++ and Rust to control electromechanical actuators and process high-speed sensor data. Design state machines, control architectures, and fault-tolerant control logic. Partner with hardware and electrical engineers on system bring‑up, integration, and troubleshooting. Build automated build, test, and validation infrastructure. Validate safe, deterministic behavior under normal and fault conditions. Debug systems using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other laboratory tools. Support system testing, commissioning, and improvements to production equipment. What you’ll bring: A bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related STEM discipline. 5+ years of professional experience. Experience developing embedded or low-level systems. Programming experience in C, C++, Go, Python, or Rust. Strong engineering fundamentals and the ability to make sound technical decisions with incomplete information. Data acquisition systems and digital signal processing. PCBA bring‑up and electrical hardware troubleshooting. Working in a fast-paced engineering or startup environment. The role may require extended hours and weekends as needed.
