Build Heavy Equipment From Start to Finish

Are you a welder who enjoys fabrication and building equipment rather than performing the same welds all day? Join a growing team where you'll work on heavy equipment projects from start to finish, combining welding, fabrication, blueprint reading, and assembly in a hands-on manufacturing environment.

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to work with a variety of equipment and tools while developing your fabrication skills alongside an experienced team. What You'll Do

• Weld and fabricate steel components used in the construction of heavy equipment.

• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.

• Measure, fit, and assemble components to required specifications and tolerances.

• Perform MIG welding and support Sub Arc welding operations as needed.

• Complete equipment assembly before and after paint to ensure proper fit and function.

• Operate overhead cranes, jib hoists, and other material-handling equipment safely.

• Use fabrication tools including saws, punches, grinders, and other power tools.

• Inspect completed work to ensure quality and accuracy.

• Collaborate with welders, assemblers, and production personnel to meet production goals.

• Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.

Required Qualifications

• At least 1 year of welding experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or production environment.

• At least 1 year of experience reading and interpreting blueprints.

• Experience using hand tools and power tools.

• Ability to accurately use measuring tools, including tape measures.

• Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.

• Ability to work at elevated heights when required.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of welding and fabrication experience.

• Experience with heavy equipment, structural steel, or industrial fabrication.

• Experience with Sub Arc welding.

• Experience operating overhead cranes, jib hoists, or similar equipment.

• Mechanical assembly experience.

• OSHA or manufacturing safety training.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of DES MOINES, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $27.00/hr.
