Anesthesia Technician, FT Evenings

Position Summary Job Title: Anesthesia Technician Location: Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, Tennessee Assists anesthetists and anesthesiologists in operating rooms and other procedural areas, maintains equipment and inventory, and performs FDA anesthesia machine checks. Position Shift 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM, Monday through Friday Department Summary The Department of Anesthesiology provides anesthesia care for all surgical procedures, including cardiac, pediatric, vascular, trauma, neurosurgery, and others. Key Responsibilities Conducts FDA anesthesia machine checks. Prepares general, MAC, or regional anesthesia cases. Consults OR schedule to determine equipment needs and sets up monitoring equipment. Assists licensed anesthesia care providers in clinical settings outside the OR (e.g., interventional radiology, Cath Lab, endoscopy, ambulatory surgery suites). Troubleshoots anesthesia machines, monitors, and equipment. Assists during invasive line placements—arterial, central, pulmonary artery. Maintains inventory of emergency carts for trauma and airway. Technical Capabilities Medical terminology and documentation (basic level). Equipment maintenance (basic level). Support for anesthesia technical tasks (basic level). Qualifications High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience). Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Some prior or current experience in a comparable clinical setting preferred. Less than 1 year of experience required. Education High School Diploma or GED.
