Substitute Custodian Of Buildings And GroundsMaintains an assigned school facility, group of buildings, or office space in a clean, orderly, and secure manner following a predetermined schedule; and performs other related work as assigned.Responsibilities include:Keeping building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways and play areas neat and clean at all times.Performing necessary touch-up painting, minor repairs to plumbing, electrical, carpentry, general mechanical areas, snow removal, grass cutting, etc.Operating cleaning and polishing equipment.Cleaning classrooms thoroughly as assigned.Cleaning and thoroughly sanitizing restrooms and locker rooms as assigned.Sweeping, mopping, wet-washing and vacuuming floors as assigned as well as cleaning of sinks, equipment, pencil sharpeners, etc.Dusting furniture, ledges, lockers and transoms.Cleaning and polishing fixtures as assigned.Emptying and cleaning wastebaskets and other trash receptacles.Cleaning whiteboards and trays, giving special regard to notes left by teachers.Cleaning tables, desks, windows, glass and partitions.Checking, repairing, or replacing lights, fixtures, bulbs and paper products daily.Performing routine facility and equipment maintenance functions, including minor repair, part replacement, and adjustment tasks.Performing skilled custodial functions in the setup, arrangement, and operation of special purpose equipment, such as stage lighting panels, curtain operation, set arrangements, and other similar functions.Performing routine maintenance and preventative maintenance functions, including equipment adjustments, lubrication, and simple part replacement.Checking all windows, doors, and cabinets for security.Following schedule of daily custodial work as prepared by administrator and Supervisor of Maintenance.Reporting in writing to supervisor any acts of vandalism, and evidence of deliberate littering or any behavior that may be demeaning.Setting and/or checking fire alarms and alarm/security systems.Ensuring building security daily by locking doors at the end of the school day.Performing other duties assigned by supervisor(s).Additional responsibilities include:Displaying positive attitude towards work.Displaying positive attitude towards students, staff and associates.Displaying dependability, responsibility, and reliability.Accepting changes and assignments positively.Demonstrating knowledge of job requirements.Respecting supplies and equipment.Displaying neatness, maintaining proper appearance and dress.Being punctual and meeting time schedules and work assignments.Being an integral part of custodial team.Being performance oriented.Physical demands include:Exerting up to 50 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.Sitting some of the time, but may involve running, walking or standing for brief periods of time.Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far visual acuity, depth perception, providing oral information, the manual dexterity to operate business related equipment, and handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.Exposure to hot, cold, wet, icy, humid, or windy conditions caused by weather may occasionally be experienced.Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable a person with a disability to perform the essential functions of the job.
