Behavioral Health TechnicianIndiana University Health is seeking individuals who embody excellence, compassion, teamwork, and purpose to join our Neurology Department in the role of Behavioral Health Technician. This role supports behavioral health and cognitive evaluation services for patients across IU Health. Also known as a Behavioral Health Rater, this role works closely with providers and research teams to perform structured cognitive evaluations for patients with dementia and Alzheimer's, helping generate cognitive scores that inform next steps in patient care. With a primary focus on clinical evaluations, particularly for patients being assessed for infusion drug therapy programs. This role sits at the intersection of patient care and neuroscience research.Key Relationships:Reports to: Service Line AdministratorDirect reports: NoneShift: Full time, Monday Friday, onsite Location: Indianapolis, INThe Scope:Administers and scores standardized neuropsychological tests for patients being seen in the IU Health Behavioral Neurology clinics and Brain Health program.Generating cognitive scores to support clinical decision-making and care planning.Supporting patient evaluations for infusion drug therapy program eligibility.Collaborating with providers, clinical staff, and research teams to deliver consistent, high-quality evaluations.Participating in research-related cognitive evaluations as needed.Providing basic patient care and overseeing the safety and security of patients under supervision of the professional behavioral health team.Making trained observations and reporting to the mental health team or designated member.Candidate Qualifications:High School Diploma or GED is required.Bachelors degree in psychology or science/health related field is strongly preferred.Requires 1-3 years of relevant experience.Requires basic computer skills.The DNA for Success:Patient-Centered: You approach every patient interaction with empathy, patience, and dignity.Detail-Oriented & Precise: You follow structured evaluation protocols carefully and document findings accurately and consistently.Clinically Curious: You are interested in neuroscience, cognitive health, and the evolving landscape of dementia and Alzheimer's care and research.Strong Communicator: You report observations clearly and collaborate effectively with providers, researchers, and clinical staff.Adaptable: You are comfortable shifting between clinical and research-focused work depending on team needs.Reliable & Self-Directed: You take ownership of your responsibilities and can manage your time and caseload independently.Collaborative: You thrive in a team environment and understand the importance of coordinated care across clinical and research settings.Mission-Driven: You are motivated by making a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and their families navigating cognitive health challenges.Indiana University Health is unlike any other healthcare system and we're looking for team members who share the things that matter most to us.
