Education: • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or directly related field. Experience: • At least two (2) years of related administrative and financial experience. Preferred Experience: • Federal, Municipal, or County experience. • Office administration, accounting, and grants management experience. Knowledge: • General accounting principles and practices. • Computerized accounting systems. • Payroll processing and reporting procedures. Skills: • Transcribing oral and/or machine dictation. • Advanced skill in the use of computers, including spreadsheet design, database management, word processing, and/or statistical software.
• Strong communication skills, both orally and written. Abilities: • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, other agencies, employees, and the general public. • Maintain accurate financial and statistical records. • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy. Licenses and Certifications Required: • None WORKING CONDITIONS Essential Personnel: • When a local announcement of emergency or disaster is declared by the City, all City of Aurora employees may be required to work as essential personnel. Physical Demands: • Sedentary physical work that involves moving no more than 10 pounds at a time. • Occasional lifting, carrying, walking, and standing. • Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate computer terminal and office equipment. • Vision for reading, recording, and interpreting Information. • Speech communication, hearing, and listening to maintain communication with employees and citizens. Work Environment: • Essential duties performed primarily in an indoor office, public area setting. Equipment Used: • Frequently uses computer, keyboard, telephone, fax machines, copiers and microfilm equipment. • This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment. The city of Aurora will implement furlough days (unpaid days off) for most employees in 2026. The scheduled furlough dates are January 16, April 10, July 2, and December 24.
