This role operates in a fast-paced production manufacturing environment, focusing on the safe and efficient production of plastic parts. You will monitor machinery, keep parts organized, accurately track order information, and perform routine quality checks to ensure products meet established standards. The position involves frequent use of measuring tools, manual handling of materials, and coordination with team members to keep production lines running smoothly.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and oversee the production of plastic parts on extrusion and related manufacturing lines.
• Legibly write and record information to track order details and production activities.
• Pull part tickets as needed for current and completed production runs.
• Watch machinery during operation to identify issues, maintain consistent output, and ensure safe functioning.
• Keep parts organized throughout the production process, including staging, stacking, and palletizing finished goods.
• Stack and palletize parts in an orderly manner for storage and shipment.
• Use rulers, tape measures, calipers, and other measuring tools to verify part dimensions and ensure accuracy.
• Lift materials and products up to 50 pounds unassisted multiple times per shift.
• Walk up and down stairs, including climbing three stairs to load hoppers as part of the extrusion process.
• Perform hourly or as-needed quality checks on parts, documenting results and notifying appropriate personnel of any issues.
• Carry out general production line duties including assembly, packaging, cleaning, inspection, and line set up.
• Operate or assist with machine operation on extrusion and fabrication lines, following all safety and operational procedures.
• Use hand and power tools as required for assembly, fabrication, and general production tasks.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, contributing to overall plant cleanliness.
• Work independently or as part of a team while staying on task to meet production goals.
• Follow all safety guidelines, including proper use of required personal protective equipment and adherence to safe lifting practices.
• Support warehouse packing and parts staging activities as needed.
• Perform general labor tasks related to production, extrusion, assembly line work, and quality control.

Essential Skills

• At least 2+ years of manufacturing experience in a production or general labor environment.
• Ability to legibly write and accurately record order and production information.
• Strong ability to read and use a tape measure for precise measurements.
• Comfort lifting up to 50 pounds unassisted multiple times per shift.
• Ability to perform consistent quality checks and maintain focus on product quality.
• Experience with general production line work such as assembly, packaging, line production, and warehouse packing.
• Capability to work alone or as part of a team while staying on task in a busy environment.
• Familiarity with measuring tools including rulers and tape measures.
• High school diploma or equivalent education.
• Ability to pass a math, ruler, and measuring test with a minimum score of 90%.
• Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools used in manufacturing and assembly.
• Physical ability to walk stairs and stand for extended periods in a production setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous machine operation experience, particularly in extrusion or related manufacturing, is preferred.
• Experience in plastic extrusion or injection molding environments is beneficial.
• Prior use of micrometers, calipers, gauges, or similar precision measuring instruments is an advantage.
• Experience in quality checks, quality control, inspection, and line set up is helpful.
• Experience with extrusion, assembly line work, line assembly, heavy lifting, cleaning, and general labor tasks is valuable.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks such as production, warehouse packing, and fabrication operations.
• Comfort working across different departments, including extrusion operation and fabrication operation, as needed.

Work Environment

The role is based in a plastic extrusion facility, where experience with injection molding can also be useful. The plant floor is older but kept very clean, and the facility has recently been expanded to include three new extrusion lines and a larger warehouse and parts staging area. Work takes place on structured shifts: first shift runs from 6:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., second shift from 2:45 p.m. to 11:15 p.m., and third shift from 10:45 p.m. to 7:15 a.m. Positions may be assigned to extrusion, extrusion operation, or fabrication operation depending on skills and business needs. The environment involves active production work, frequent use of measuring tools and machinery, and regular manual handling of materials. Steel-toe footwear is required as part of the standard safety dress code.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Waterville, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.50/hr.
