Concrete Finisher

Job ID: 521124 Position Overview: Crew member essential to application of concrete on highways, private roadways, parking lots, and driveways using hand/power tools. Key Responsibilities Partner with other crew members to complete all aspects of the concrete job and concentrate on the finished surface per plan specifications as instructed by the crew foreman while meeting daily schedules, estimates, and quality. Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task. Properly follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment. Maintain attendance according to the company attendance policy to ensure crew operates at normal efficiency level. Maintain a courteous and professional manner with co‑workers, customers, and the public. Qualifications Education/Experience High school degree or equivalent preferred but not required. Work Requirements Be flexible with last‑minute schedule changes, location changes, and shift time changes; overtime work required. Possibility of out‑of‑town, out‑of‑county, or out‑of‑state work. Follow Traffic Control Crew instructions and practice safety standards per Company Safety Policy. Adhere to PPE policy and maintain PPE in functional condition as supplied by company. Physical ability to work under temperature extremes for extended hours; normal shift is 8–12 hours. Must ride to and from job sites; if operating a company vehicle, must meet APAC Driver Qualification Standard. Knowledge and Skill Requirements Ability to finish wet surfaces on all types of concrete work requiring a quality finish as instructed by the crew foreman. Ability to apply concrete in designated areas with attention to detail and emphasis on craftsmanship. Ability to operate or initiate learning to operate equipment required on a concrete construction crew. Physical Requirements Finishing concrete and other duties associated with heavy highway construction. Use of tools such as float, trowel, screed, template, hand shovel, motorized tamp, push broom or 10’–16’ straight edge with extended handle up to 15’ long; may use pick, mattock, axe, brush hook, hammer, saw, pneumatic hammer/drill, tamps (manual and power driven), sample saw, concrete saw, sledge hammer, and other required tools. Adapt and work in extreme weather temperatures. Perform motions such as stretching, stooping, bending, squatting, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, kneeling, throwing, walking, hammering, standing, reaching, rubbing surfaces; squatting may occupy most of the work day. Lift up to 50 lbs for repetitious lifting while using proper lifting techniques. Work Environment Will be exposed to extremes of heat or cold weather. Benefits Highly competitive base pay.
