Job Title: General Laborer

Job Description

The General Laborer monitors a production line to ensure unwanted materials do not pass through the process and supports the team in clearing machine jams. This role is entry-level and focuses on safe, efficient operation in a fast-paced recycling environment on the second shift from 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the production line continuously to ensure no unwanted materials pass through the process.
• Visually inspect materials on the line and remove items that do not meet quality or safety standards.
• Work closely with the line lead to identify, troubleshoot, and clear machine jams safely and efficiently.
• Follow established operating procedures and safety protocols at all times while on the production floor.
• Use basic hand tools as directed to assist with minor adjustments or clearing obstructions on equipment.
• Support general production tasks such as packing, assembly, and packaging as needed.
• Assist with material handling, which may include moving, stacking, or organizing products or materials.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area to reduce hazards and support efficient operations.
• Communicate promptly with the lead or supervisor about equipment issues, safety concerns, or material problems.
• Participate in team activities and follow instructions to meet production goals and quality standards.

Essential Skills

• Ability to perform general labor tasks in a fast-paced production environment.
• Comfort working in dirty, hot conditions, such as those found in a recycling facility.
• Capability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks while monitoring a production line.
• Basic familiarity with production, packing, assembly, and packaging work.
• Ability to use basic hand tools safely under direction.
• Strong attention to detail when inspecting materials on the line.
• Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively with a line lead and team members.
• Entry-level readiness with a willingness to learn and adapt to the work environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working in dirty or hot environments is helpful but not required.
• Exposure to recycling, solar-related production, or similar industrial settings is a plus.
• Basic understanding of forklift operations or carpentry is beneficial but not mandatory.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality for second-shift work.
• Interest in developing skills in production, material handling, and equipment support.

Work Environment

The role is based in a recycling plant environment that is dirty, can be hot, and has strong trash-related odors. Work takes place on a production line with industrial machinery and equipment, requiring adherence to safety protocols at all times. The position is scheduled on second shift from 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Team members should be comfortable working in a physically demanding setting, wearing appropriate work attire suitable for a dirty industrial facility and any required personal protective equipment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of St. Louis, MO.

The pay range for this position is $15.50 - $15.95/hr.
