Clinical Pharmacist – Emergency Department Location: Cleveland, Facility: Lutheran Hospital, Department: Inpatient Pharmacy-Pharmacy, Shift: Variable (11:00 am–7:30 pm and 6:30 am–2:30 pm) Responsibilities Provide safe, efficient, patient‑centered, evidence‑based medication services. Verify medication orders and/or dispense medications accurately according to state and federal regulations. Document services in a complete, accurate, and timely manner. Actively contribute to medication safety initiatives. Ensure all pharmacy operations comply with national accreditation standards. Direct staff appropriately to provide safe and efficient care and maintain professional working relationships with all caregivers. Educate and train students, residents, other caregivers, and/or patients. The pharmacist works Monday through Friday from 11:00 am to 7:30 pm, decentralized in the Emergency Department. Schedules are subject to operational needs and include a weekend rotation on day shift from 6:30 am to 2:30 pm, occurring every fifth or eighth weekend.A holiday rotation of approximately one holiday per year based on departmental needs is also required. There are no on‑call requirements. Minimum Qualifications PharmD or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited college of Pharmacy. Current State licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) or eligibility for reciprocation in the current state within 90 days of hire. For individuals required to administer immunizations, Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross and completion of a Board of Pharmacy approved course in the administration of immunizations or certification obtained within 90 days of hire. Preferred Qualifications Board Certification. Prior emergency room or inpatient pharmacy experience. Completion of a Post‑Graduate Year 1 Residency (PGY1), fellowship, or relevant post‑graduate pharmacy experience. Post‑Graduate Year 2 residency (PGY2) or relevant experience preferred for Clinical Pharmacists hired in a Specialized Pharmacy practice area. Physical Requirements Ability to perform the job while standing and walking for prolonged times, approximately 75% of the shift and continuously for extended periods of time. Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer and dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 30 lbs. Position often includes reaching, stretching, stooping, climbing steps, and sitting. Must have normal or corrected vision. Must have the ability to clearly communicate verbally by phone or in person. PPE Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
