About the Role

The Company is in search of an Assistant General Counsel with a focus on IP strategy, particularly in the area of AI. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team that works closely with technical leaders to identify and protect mission-critical innovations. This role is pivotal in strengthening the company's global patent portfolio and modernizing IP operations, with a strong emphasis on the responsible use of AI. The ideal candidate will have a J.D. and active bar membership, with at least 15 years' of relevant IP experience, including team management. Extensive experience in patent prosecution, particularly in the fields of software, SaaS, cloud, cybersecurity, and AI, is essential. The role also requires expertise in trademark, copyright, and trade secret law, as well as a proven track record of managing significant budgets effectively. Key responsibilities for this role at the company include developing and managing a global patent prosecution strategy, making strategic filing decisions, and overseeing the company's trademark and copyright portfolios. The candidate should be adept at using AI technologies to enhance decision-making, streamline workflows, and improve efficiency. Experience in supporting IP licensing, M&A, and open-source is a plus. The role demands a team-oriented, detail-oriented, and operationally rigorous individual with a strong focus on innovation and a commitment to the responsible adoption of AI.
