Job Overview Senior Controls Engineer – Hydraulic Mining Shovel (HMS) based in Tucson, AZ. Full‑time position that requires domestic relocation availability and may involve up to 10% travel to manufacturing or customer sites. Responsibilities Develop, organize, and maintain algorithms for HMS technology features such as Operator Assist, Payload, and future semi‑autonomous capabilities. Analyze hydraulic and electrical schematics and collaborate with system teams to select suitable hardware for controls inputs. Execute controls and performance simulations for current production and new product introduction HMS, providing data‑driven recommendations. Determine realistic simulation conditions and adjust simulation complexity to reflect real‑life hydraulic mining shovel operations. Leverage live machine data to analyze operator behavior and provide actionable insights. Coordinate resources, delegate tasks, and ensure projects are delivered on schedule and with high fidelity. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and continually improve existing techniques. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field. Strong technical leadership and extensive experience with heavy equipment performance and application. Deep understanding of electro‑hydraulic system design, control theory, and product development. Proficiency with engineering tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, or Python for simulation and analysis. Excellent analytical thinking, root‑cause analysis, and problem‑solving skills. Strong communication, leadership, and project management abilities; experience negotiating and building consensus. High attention to detail and a commitment to precise workmanship. Preferred: Experience with Dynasty, Rocks3D, and C‑Link. Preferred: Ability to travel up to 10% and willingness to relocate domestically.
