Job Description

This role focuses on MIG welding in a production welding shop environment, performing horizontal flat and vertical down welds. . You will use tape measures and blueprints to complete high-quality welds on various parts and assemblies while working in different physical positions throughout your shift.

Responsibilities

• Perform production MIG welding on a variety of parts and assemblies.

• Execute horizontal flat and vertical down welds in accordance with established specifications and quality standards.

• Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions to understand weld requirements and part dimensions.

• Use a tape measure and other basic measuring tools to verify dimensions and ensure accurate fit-up before welding.

• Set up, operate, and adjust MIG welding equipment and related tools to achieve proper weld penetration and appearance.

• Work in a variety of positions, including standing, seated, kneeling, and on floor pads, to access weld locations safely and effectively.

• Inspect completed welds visually and with measuring tools to confirm they meet quality and safety standards.

• Maintain a clean and organized work area in a busy welding shop environment.

• Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment while working around welding machinery and materials.

• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and support continuous improvements in manufacturing processes.

Essential Skills

• Production MIG welding experience

• Proficiency in horizontal flat welding and vertical down welding.

• Ability to weld effectively in multiple positions

• Capability to read and interpret blueprints related to welding and fabrication.

• Skill in using a tape measure and basic measuring tools to verify dimensions.

• Understanding of welding shop safety practices and proper use of personal protective equipment.

• Ability to work in a busy production environment and meet established productivity and quality expectations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Formal welding schooling or technical training in MIG welding is considered in place of on-the-job experience.

• Experience working in a production welding shop environment.

• Comfort working in a non-temperature-controlled, dirty shop setting.

• Ability to adapt to updated machinery and manufacturing processes.

Work Environment

The role is based in a welding shop with. You will work around welding machinery, equipment, and production materials. Appropriate work attire and personal protective equipment are required to ensure safety and comfort in this active, hands-on environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Morton, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
