ED Technician, 36 Hours/Nights

Job Overview Emergency department technicians provide specialized assistance to nurses and physicians. They administer tests, conduct diagnostic exams and therapeutic procedures, and interact with acutely ill and unstable patients. Albany Medical Center, a Level One trauma center, requires technicians to provide lifesaving interventions for traumatic injuries and medical emergencies. Responsibilities Assist with resuscitation, CPR, and emergency airway procedures Perform venipuncture to obtain blood specimens Assist physicians and nurses by providing technical support for patient care Report on the patient’s condition to the appropriate supervisor or staff member Assist with patient transport to other departments Obtain and document vital signs, cardiac monitoring, and non‑invasive blood pressure readings Obtain 12‑lead EKGs Discontinue peripheral IV and heparin/saline locks Assist with wound care, insertion of Foley catheters, and nasogastric tubes Assist with patient positioning, application of orthopedic splints and dressings Measure and fit crutches and canes and instruct patients on their proper use Information Security This role may require access to information considered sensitive to Albany Med Health System, its patients, affiliates, and partners, including, but not limited to, HIPAA Protected Health Information and other information regulated by federal and NewYorkState statutes.
