We're looking for a Network Engineer III to join a security remediation team focused on patching and upgrading network devices. This is a great fit for a strong network engineer who doesn't necessarily come from a security background but is comfortable navigating devices, performing upgrades, and working independently. You'll work directly with customers and stakeholders throughout the engagement, so clear, confident communication is essential.
What You'll Do
- Access and navigate network devices to perform upgrades and patches
- Install, configure, and upgrade Cisco routers and switches; execute device changes, upgrades, and replacements
- Support vulnerability management and exposure management efforts
- Implement and modify complex ACLs to restrict unauthorized access, enforce security policies, and manage network traffic flow (including updating ACLs to filter/restrict ports for public WiFi access)
- Create and execute CLI commands and manage IPv4 configurations
- Use command line and traceroute to troubleshoot and validate device access
- Apply engineered Layer 3/Layer 4 routing architecture across enterprise routing and switching environments
- Participate in maintenance windows as needed (occasional, not a regular occurrence)
- Work directly with customers and stakeholders throughout the engagement
- 5-8 years of network engineering experience (NE3 level)
- Strong routing and switching experience - Cisco, Juniper, and/or Alcatel
- Advanced experience with router and switch configurations and device management
- Deep understanding of LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, MPLS backbone, wireless, cloud, the OSI model, and network protocols
- In-depth understanding of enterprise routing/switching and Layer 3/Layer 4 routing architecture
- Experience with managed services platforms - Cisco Meraki, Fortinet
- Comfortable with the Meraki/Cisco dashboard and updating ACLs
- Self-sufficient, able to work with minimal oversight (no lead experience required)
- Experience with Salesforce and/or Jira
- ISP background
- Certifications: CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA+
- Excellent, clear communication skills - this role works directly with customers
- Must be able to work as a W2 contractor located within the US
