Role Overview:

We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated BIM Designer Level 1 to join our structural engineering team. In this role, you will develop 3D models and construction documents under the guidance of senior engineers and a BIM Lead, building the technical foundation and project experience needed to grow within our BIM practice.

Key Responsibilities:

Model Development & Documentation

• Create and maintain detailed 3D structural models using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Translate engineering sketches, calculations, and markups into accurate, construction-ready documents.
• Generate plans, sections, elevations, and details from BIM models for permit and construction sets.
• Ensure all drawings and models comply with company BIM standards and project-specific BIM Execution Plans (BEPs).

Project Coordination

• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other disciplines to support model integration and clash coordination.
• Incorporate engineer redlines and revisions accurately and within established project timelines.
• Participate in coordination meetings and communicate progress or issues to the BIM Lead or project engineer.

Quality Assurance & Control

• Perform self-checks on models and drawings for accuracy, completeness, and conformance to standards before submission.
• Maintain organized project files, including consistent version control and file naming conventions.

Support & Collaboration

• Provide hands-on modeling support to engineers during design development and construction documentation phases.
• Assist in preparing visualizations, diagrams, and renderings for client presentations as needed.
• Support the BIM Lead in maintaining project templates and implementing BEP requirements.

Professional Development & Process Improvement

• Stay current with BIM software updates, emerging tools, and industry best practices.
• Participate in internal training sessions and contribute to the development of BIM standards and workflows.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education & Experience

• Associate's degree, technical diploma, or certificate in BIM/CAD Technology, Architectural Engineering Technology, or a closely related field.
• 0–2 years of relevant experience; internship or co-op experience in an AEC environment is a plus.

Technical Skills

• Working proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suite, and cloud-based file-sharing platforms.
• Basic understanding of structural systems, construction documentation, and standard detailing practices.
• Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, specifications, and engineer markups.

Soft Skills

• Strong attention to detail and organizational habits.
• Ability to manage time effectively and work in a deadline-driven environment.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills.
• Collaborative mindset with a willingness to ask questions, take direction, and grow.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Navisworks for model coordination and clash detection.
• Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) / BIM 360 / Forma.
• Exposure to structural engineering workflows (steel, concrete, masonry, or wood framing).
• Knowledge of IBC, AISC, or ACI documentation standards is a bonus, not a requirement.
