Position Overview

Hunter Crown is partnering with an established international manufacturer of engineered equipment used across water, wastewater, environmental, industrial, and process applications to identify an experienced Field Service Technician. This is a remote, field based position supporting customers throughout a broad territory in the Southeast and other regions as business needs require.

The position is well suited for a technician who enjoys combining mechanical expertise, electrical and controls knowledge, troubleshooting ability, and direct customer interaction. The technician will take ownership of equipment startup, commissioning, service, repair, preventive maintenance, and technical support while serving as a trusted technical resource at customer facilities.

Professional Responsibility and Scope

This professional will independently perform startup, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, rebuilding, and preventive maintenance activities for industrial rotating equipment and associated systems. Responsibilities include evaluating equipment condition, identifying failure causes, determining appropriate corrective actions, and providing customers with technically sound recommendations.

The role also involves installing, configuring, calibrating, and maintaining pneumatic, analog, and digital instrumentation along with electrical, pneumatic, and fluid connections. The technician will work with industrial controls, communication networks, process instrumentation, and control narratives to diagnose mechanical, electrical, controls, and process related issues.

Successful technicians will be comfortable interpreting engineering drawings, control wiring diagrams, process flow information, piping and instrumentation diagrams, equipment documentation, and service procedures. They will document service activity thoroughly, including equipment condition, failure analysis, repairs completed, materials used, commissioning information, and recommendations for future maintenance.

ustomer communication is an important part of the position. The technician will discuss service requirements, explain technical findings, provide progress updates, recommend appropriate service options, and provide equipment training when appropriate. The individual may also provide field observations to engineering teams supporting equipment modifications, facility improvements, and safety evaluations.

Significant overnight travel is required, including occasional travel scheduled on short notice. Candidates should be comfortable with a position where travel can approach 100 percent depending on customer demand.

Location and Lifestyle Context

This is a remote position based in the Southeast. The technician will operate from a home office while traveling extensively to customer facilities.

The role provides considerable independence and variety. Rather than reporting to the same facility every day, the technician will work across customer sites, equipment installations, commissioning projects, and service assignments. It is particularly attractive for individuals who prefer hands on technical work, changing environments, and direct interaction with industrial customers.

Compensation

The anticipated base compensation range is approximately $70,000 to $95,000 annually, plus incentive compensation.

Final compensation will depend on relevant technical experience, capabilities, and overall fit for the position.

Experience and Qualification Summary

Qualified candidates should have an associate degree in electronics technology or a comparable technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience, together with at least four years of field service and repair experience involving rotating equipment.

Candidates should be capable of diagnosing mechanical equipment failures and working with industrial electrical systems, instrumentation, controls, and communications. Experience with TCP/IP networks, RS 485 communications, programmable logic controllers, ladder logic, industrial control software, and related automation systems is valuable.

he ability to interpret process flow information, control wiring, engineering documentation, and piping and instrumentation diagrams is important. Experience with fabrication activities such as brazing, cutting, welding, or plasma cutting can also be beneficial.

Successful candidates will demonstrate strong planning, organization, analytical thinking, time management, customer communication, and technical problem solving skills. A professional approach to safety, documentation, quality, and regulatory compliance is expected.

Candidates must be able and willing to travel extensively, potentially up to 100 percent of the time, including overnight travel and occasional travel arranged on short notice.
