These systems include mission computers, avionics, sensors, and mission equipment for airborne and ground platforms. As a Systems Security Engineer I, you will work with experienced security and systems engineers to protect mission critical systems through secure configurations, vulnerability management, and RMF compliance activities.ResponsibilitiesIn this role you will support security documentation, baseline hardening, evidence collection, and basic assessment tasks while learning DoD RMF and NIST guidance. You will collaborate within cross functional Integrated Product Teams where effective communication and teamwork are essential. If you are excited to start your cybersecurity career, support DoD customers and international allies, and grow your skills in defense security engineering, we encourage you to apply and develop with us at V2X.In this role you will:Assist with system categorization and initial control mapping to NIST SP 800 53Support development and maintenance of System Security Plans, POA&Ms, and security evidence repositoriesExecute baseline vulnerability scans and document findings for remediation trackingApply standard configuration baselines and STIG checklists to assigned componentsHelp assemble inputs for Security Assessment Plans and assessment activitiesSupport basic control verification activities and collect test evidence during integration or lab eventsQualificationsRequired Skills:Self-driven with a strong sense of accountability, able to manage tasks and deliver quality work on schedule.Excellent written and verbal communication.Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain an Active DoD Secret Clearance.Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.Desired Skills:Previous internships or experience with development projects is desiredStrong communication skills and ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.Fundamental understanding of System Security processesFamiliarity with vulnerability scanning tools, STIG concepts, and basic hardening proceduresCollaborative mindset with active listening and respect for diverse viewpointsCurrent Active DoD Secret or higher Clearance.Education / Certifications:Bachelor’s Degree in or higher in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or closely related discipline including those with degrees in-progress with completion expected by May 2027 (or earlier).#LI-WH1#ClearanceAt V2X, we are deeply committed to both equal employment opportunity, including protection for Veterans and individuals with disabilities, and fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace.
