Senior Accountant

Our client is an organization in the Minneapolis area looking for a Senior Staff Accountant . Our client is looking for someone with well-rounded accounting experience, a hands-on approach, and the ability to take ownership of day-to-day accounting activities. This individual will serve as a key accounting resource for the operation and will be responsible for a broad range of general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll-related functions. The salary range for this position is $65k-80k . The Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

RESPONSIBILITIES

Serve as the primary resource for detailed accounting activities for the assigned business operation. Prepare and post journal entries as part of the monthly financial close process. Perform account reconciliations and research discrepancies to ensure accurate financial reporting. Manage accounts payable activities, including invoice processing and payment-related responsibilities. Monitor accounts receivable balances and follow up on outstanding customer accounts. Review payroll information and perform payroll balancing and reconciliation activities in coordination with centralized payroll resources. Maintain accurate general ledger records and supporting accounting documentation. Assist with monthly financial reporting and investigate unusual account activity or variances. Work within the organization's ERP and financial systems to process transactions and maintain accounting records. Partner with operational and corporate teams to resolve accounting questions and ensure financial information is complete and accurate. Maintain ownership of assigned accounting responsibilities from initial transaction through reconciliation and reporting. Support audit requests and prepare financial schedules and documentation as needed. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and overall efficiency. Assist with additional accounting projects and responsibilities as business needs evolve. The Senior Staff Accountant will possess the following:

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

2-3+ years of hands-on accounting experience preferred. Demonstrated experience with journal entries, month-end close, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll-related accounting. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; equivalent hands-on accounting experience will be considered. Experience working in a hospitality environment is preferred but not required. Previous experience serving as a well-rounded accountant within a smaller or decentralized business environment is a plus. Experience with ERP or financial accounting systems required; exposure to Oracle-based systems is beneficial. Experience with payroll or HRIS platforms is preferred. Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and account reconciliation processes. Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to independently manage day-to-day accounting responsibilities and take ownership of assigned areas. Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with operational and corporate teams.
