Project Development Engineer

Your Job DEPCOM Power, an EPC firm and Koch Engineered Solutions company, is hiring a Project Development Engineer . This role will ideally be based out of the Bedminster, NJ office, but we are open to considering candidates who could be based at our Houston, TX or Scottsdale, AZ offices. This position supports early-stage project design, technical diligence, and proposal development for utility‑scale solar and battery energy storage projects. This role is not eligible for VISA sponsorship or transfer. Our Team The Project Development Engineering team partners directly with Business Development to support project wins and drive growth. The team expands renewable energy opportunities, including solar (PV), battery energy storage (BESS), and repowering solutions. What You Will Do Support early‑stage engineering activities for utility‑scale solar and battery energy storage projects Develop preliminary PV and BESS system designs in collaboration with senior engineers Prepare, review, or maintain technical documentation, including site layouts, one‑line diagrams, energy models, bill of materials, and project contracts Collaborate cross‑functionally with Business Development, Engineering, Estimating, and Operations teams to gather project data and support proposals Contribute to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Information (RFIs) development, including successful transition to Project Execution teams Identify and communicate technical risks and opportunities during early project development phases Learn and apply industry tools such as PVSyst, AutoCAD, PVFARM, ArcGIS, and related modeling software Travel up to approximately 25% for site visits, client meetings, or team coordination as needed Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) Experience or education in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering, or a related STEM discipline Experience working in cross‑functional or collaborative team environments Legal authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship or transfer Valid U.S. driver’s license or ability to obtain one What Will Put You Ahead Exposure to renewable energy, power systems, or utility‑scale projects through coursework, internships, or professional experience Experience or familiarity with solar PV, battery energy storage systems (BESS), energy modeling or design tools (PVSyst, AutoCAD, Excel‑based modeling) and programming or data analysis tools such as Excel (including macros) or Python Experience with interpreting technical drawings such as site layouts, equipment schematics, one‑line diagrams, or contract documentation Engineering certifications, such as Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT)/Fundamentals of Engineering or Professional Engineering certification Prior experience supporting proposals, RFIs, RFPs, or early‑stage engineering work Our Benefits We provide medical, dental, vision, flexible spending and health savings accounts, life insurance, disability, retirement, paid vacation/time off, educational assistance, and may also include infertility assistance, paid parental leave and adoption assistance.
