Job Overview This is a contract job to hire opportunity. Location: Itasca, IL and surrounding suburbs (float job). Schedule: 7 AM – 8 PM, Monday‑Friday (8‑hour shift). The role rotates Saturdays, may cover multiple consecutive weekends, and may include Sunday shifts (7 AM – 7 PM). Projected duration: 3 months with contract‑to‑hire. Job code: CVDJP00034174. Summary The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshoot, train, and recommend workflow improvements. Responsibilities Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontamination, updating patient information, and collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures. Explain clearly and courteously the process of venipuncture (blood drawing) and other specimen collection (e.g., urine or fecal) as required, and demonstrate technique using straight needles or butterfly needles. Fully understand physicians' orders and match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order. Check all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100 % accuracy. Package specimens for transport and store specimen samples according to required temperature, placing samples in appropriate containers or tubes, accurately labeling, and following protocol to maintain specimen integrity. Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations, attend annual department trainings, answer telephone calls, and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Minimum Qualifications Valid phlebotomy certification for the state in which you will be employed, as required in some states. Minimum of 6 months of work experience performing venipunctures in a fast‑paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma or GED. Minimum 2 years of experience, including pediatric experience drawing on newborns. High customer‑service orientation. #J-18808-Ljbffr
