Master Data Specialist

The Master Data Specialist is responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining core business data in Sage and related systems. This role supports the accuracy and consistency of product, vendor, and customer data to ensure smooth day-to-day operations. The position works closely with multiple departments to process data requests and maintain clean, reliable records.

Responsibilities

• Create and update item master records in Sage, including descriptions, units of measure, and basic classifications.
• Collaborate with internal teams to gather required information for new item setup and updates.
• Review item data for completeness and correct errors as per established naming conventions and data standards.
• Set up and maintain vendor records, including contact details, payment terms, and addresses.
• Coordinate with Purchasing and Accounting to process new vendor requests and updates.
• Identify and remove duplicate or inactive vendor records.
• Create and update customer records, including billing/shipping information and account details.
• Work with Sales, Customer Service, and Finance to process account requests.
• Maintain a clean and accurate customer database by resolving duplicates and inconsistencies.
• Review data for accuracy and consistency across systems.
• Follow established procedures for data entry and maintenance.
• Assist with data cleanup efforts and basic reporting needs.
• Support system updates or changes by validating and updating data as needed.
• Manage incoming data requests through email or ticketing systems and complete them in a timely manner.

Essential Skills

• 13 years of experience in data entry, data management, or a similar role.
• Experience working with an ERP system (Sage preferred).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work with large amounts of data.
• Basic proficiency in Excel or similar tools.
• Ability to work across teams and follow established processes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing or food and beverage environments.
• Familiarity with data cleanup or deduplication processes.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wheeling, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.84 - $31.25/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
