We are seeking an experienced, high-performing Mortgage Underwriter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can make sound credit decisions with speed, confidence, and accuracy .

Position Overview

This is a full-time position with the flexibility to work on-site in our Miami Lakes, FL corporate office or remotely for the right candidate .

The ideal candidate must have strong, current mortgage underwriting experience and be highly proficient in evaluating residential mortgage loan files in accordance with agency, government, investor, and company guidelines .

Key Responsibilities

• Underwrite and evaluate residential mortgage loan applications for FHA, VA, Conventional (Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac), Condo, USDA, and Non-QM loans
• Analyze credit, income, assets, collateral, and overall loan risk
• Review income documentation, tax returns, business returns, bank statements, appraisals, and complex borrower scenarios, condo docs
• Issue clear, detailed underwriting decisions and conditions
• Ensure loans comply with investor guidelines, regulatory requirements, and company overlays
• Collaborate effectively with loan processors, closers, and loan officers to move loans efficiently to closing
• Maintain high levels of accuracy, productivity, and turnaround times

Qualifications & Requirements

Must-Haves:

✔ Minimum 3+ years of current residential mortgage underwriting experience

✔ Currently working in the mortgage industry

✔ Strong underwriting experience with FHA, VA, Conventional, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Condo, and Non-QM loans

✔ Deep understanding of agency guidelines, AUS findings (DU/LP), mortgage regulations, and compliance requirements

✔ Strong ability to analyze credit reports, income documentation, tax returns, self-employed borrowers, bank statements, and appraisals

✔ Excellent risk assessment and decision-making skills

✔ Ability to manage deadlines and a high-volume pipeline while maintaining exceptional quality and service

Required:

• DE Certification
• Experience with Encompass LOS
