Job Overview

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Payroll Assistant to join our dynamic finance team. Responsibilities

• Process payroll transactions accurately using systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, or UltiPro, ensuring timely payments to employees.
• Enter and verify payroll data, including hours worked, benefits deductions, taxes, and other adjustments using accounting software like QuickBooks or Ceridian.
• Reconcile payroll accounts through general ledger accounting practices, ensuring consistency and accuracy across financial records.
• Assist with benefits administration tasks related to payroll, including tracking leave accruals and processing benefit deductions.
• Support accounts payable and receivable functions by managing related data entry and journal entries within financial software platforms.
• Collaborate with human resources to ensure compliance with tax regulations and governmental reporting requirements.
• Perform account reconciliation tasks such as verifying debits & credits, general ledger reconciliation, and preparing detailed reports for management review.
• Maintain meticulous records of payroll transactions, employee data updates, and audit documentation for internal controls and compliance purposes.

Experience

• Proven experience working with payroll management systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, or Kronos is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles including double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, debits & credits, and general ledger accounting.
• Familiarity with financial concepts related to benefits administration, governmental accounting standards, and non-profit accounting is advantageous.
• Demonstrated ability in data entry accuracy with proficiency in 10 key typing skills.
• Experience handling accounts payable/receivable processes along with account reconciliation tasks.
• Knowledge of tax regulations affecting payroll processing and reporting requirements is a plus.
• Excellent analysis skills combined with a solid understanding of human resources functions related to payroll processing.
