Medical Assistant - Apprentice

Medical Assistant Apprentice (MA-A)The Medical Assistant Apprentice (MA-A) supports providers and the care team in delivering high-quality, patient-centered primary care while participating in a structured, state-approved apprenticeship program. This role combines paid on-the-job training with coursework to prepare the apprentice for Medical Assistant–Certified (MA-C) credentialing.Key Duties:Room patients; obtain histories and vital signsTrack and document clinical quality measures in the EHR (HEDIS, UDS, etc.)Assist providers with exams, minor procedures, and chartingAdminister immunizations and medications per standing orders and scope of practiceCoordinate labs, referrals, and specialty carePrepare exam rooms and maintain infection control standardsParticipate in care team huddles and support patient flowProvide excellent customer service using the AIDET modelProgram Requirements:Completion of 2,000 hours of paid on-the-job training with an MA coachCompletion of 364 hours of supplemental coursework (unpaid)Attendance at required in-person lab days and certification testingTrack and submit training hours and skill documentationQualifications:High school diploma or equivalent; at least 18 years of ageEligible to participate in a WA State–approved MA Apprenticeship ProgramCPR/BLS requiredHIV/AIDS training requiredAbility to commit time outside of work hours for courseworkAmbulatory or primary care experience preferredBilingual English/Spanish preferredFast-paced outpatient setting.
