Physician Assistant (Primary care) - Recruitment/Relocation Incentive-EDRP Authorized

Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Candidates must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit an EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amounts (up to $200,000) and eligibility periods (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply. Responsibilities Complete all mandatory training annually within a timely manner. Demonstrate behaviors that reflect a commitment to continuous professional development, ethical practice, and sensitivity to diversity, with a responsible attitude toward Veterans, patients, families, co‑workers, and colleagues in WTVHCS. Practice general medicine with a focus on community‑based outpatient clinical care. Dedicate approximately 90 % of time to developing and maintaining an interdisciplinary approach to the direct care of general medicine clinic patients. Serve as the primary care provider for patients on a personal panel, acting as their gatekeeper. Deliver a high degree of responsibility and independence in clinical practice. Employ superior assessment skills and breadth of knowledge. Communicate effectively to negotiate with VAMC consultants regarding patient triage. Maintain superior communication skills compared to VAMC‑based physician assistants. Follow departmental and VHA policies for leave and attendance, working within Title 38 appointment guidelines. Request leave at least 45 days in advance to minimize care disruption, in accordance with clinic cancellation policies. Communicate unscheduled absences promptly and reschedule patients per WTVAHCS policy. Enter progress notes within 48 hours of patient encounters. Address quality metrics and meet professional standards of care. Complete all medical records, documentation, orders, and administrative tasks in a timely manner per VHA and facility policy. Avoid use of prohibited abbreviations. Collaborate with other providers in the section. Engage in continuous process improvements to support a high‑reliability organization. Maintain quality of care to meet professional standards at all times. Assist with special clinic reviews or projects as needed. Work within privileges at all times unless an emergency requires otherwise. Develop and lead processes to improve care and satisfaction in community‑based outpatient clinics. Enroll patients in active ambulatory care research protocols and complete required follow‑up visits. Schedule Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–4:30 pm. Telework not available; position is not virtual.
