General Machinist & Machine Assembler

Location: Rhode Island – On-Site
Employment Type: Full-Time
Pay: $22.00 – $28.00 per hour, depending on experience

RI Temps is recruiting for an experienced General Machinist & Machine Assembler for one of our established manufacturing clients.

We are looking for someone who enjoys hands-on machining, mechanical assembly, troubleshooting, and precision work . This position involves manufacturing, modifying, fitting, and assembling precision components used in terminal applicators, wire-processing tooling, and custom crimp dies.

Direct experience with terminal applicators or crimp tooling is a plus, but not required. Our client is willing to train the right machinist who has strong mechanical skills and precision machining experience.

What You'll Be Doing

• Set up and operate manual lathes, mills, surface grinders, and other shop equipment
• Machine precision tooling components, punches, anvils, shear blades, and feed mechanisms
• Assemble and set up mechanical and pneumatic terminal applicators
• Perform precision bench assembly, fitting, alignment, and fine-tuning of components
• Work to tight mechanical tolerances and customer specifications
• Perform dimensional inspections using micrometers, dial indicators, height gauges, gauge blocks, pin gauges, and optical comparators
• Produce sample crimps and inspect crimp height, width, alignment, and overall quality
• Adjust and fine-tune tooling to achieve proper specifications
• Troubleshoot mechanical wear, alignment problems, feed timing, and other mechanical issues
• Repair, rebuild, and rework tooling and applicators as needed
• Work from drawings, specifications, measurements, and established procedures

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of manual machining and/or precision mechanical assembly experience preferred
• Experience operating manual mills, lathes, grinders, and related equipment
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work accurately with tight tolerances
• Experience using precision measuring instruments
• Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and specifications
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a manufacturing team

Experience with terminal applicators, wire-processing equipment, crimp tooling, dies, or similar precision tooling is highly desirable, but we will consider and train a strong machinist with transferable experience.

Compensation

$22.00 – $28.00 per hour , depending on experience and skill level.
