The Emergency Department at Hartford Hospital is one of the busiest EDs in Connecticut, treating patients of the highest acuity in the region. Comprised of 108 licensed beds, with an additional 19-bed ED Observation Unit, HHED treats an average of 108,000 patients annually. The ED works closely with the 7 Medicine inpatient units within Hartford Hospital to promote a collaborative continuum of care for our patients as they transition through their care within the hospital. Our Medicine inpatient units care for a diverse patient population, allowing for RNs to gain a broad range of experience within the nursing field.

Job Summary

Our Nurses work in collaborative environments with strong interdisciplinary teams, focused on a patient-centered care model in a richly diverse work space. Under the direction and general supervision of the Nurse Manager, the registered nurse utilizes evidence-based practices in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, policies and procedures of the hospital and as directed by the medical staff. The registered nurse who through knowledge and ability uses the nursing process to develop a plan of care which includes standards of practice to meet the physical, emotional spiritual, cultural and educational needs of the patient and family.

Qualifications

• Current Connecticut RN License required prior to start date
• Graduate of an accredited nursing school ADN/ASN or BSN (preferred)
• BLS certification by the American Heart Association
