Controls Engineer

Linde Advanced Material Technologies Inc. is seeking a Controls Engineer in Indianapolis, IN, United States.

In this role you will support industrial automation systems, including Programmable Logic Controller (PLCs), Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), robotics, and servo controls. Troubleshoot controls and electrical issues to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime. Assist with commissioning, validation, and startup of new or upgraded manufacturing equipment. Support automation projects, controls upgrades, and equipment integration initiatives. Analyze production performance and downtime data to identify process improvement opportunities. Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering teams to resolve production challenges. Maintain control system documentation, programming updates, and standard operating procedures. Learn and apply Lean Production principles such as waste reduction, standardized work, and continuous improvement.

You will hold a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related technical discipline required. 0-3 years of experience in controls engineering, automation, or manufacturing environments (internships/co-ops acceptable). Basic knowledge of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming, Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI) systems, industrial controls, or automation technologies. Exposure to Allen-Bradley/Rockwell platforms, Studio 5000, or similar tools preferred. Familiarity with electrical systems, instrumentation, and industrial communication networks is a plus. Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn in a hands-on manufacturing environment. Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting and communicate effectively across functions. Basic understanding of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement concepts preferred. Self-motivated with a strong desire to develop technical and professional skills. Fundamental understanding of robotics with ABB Robotics Systems experience preferred.
