Job Summary

Registered Nurse (RN), Labor and Delivery, Saint Louis, MO. The Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care to laboring, delivering, and immediate postpartum patients in a fast-paced, high-acuity setting. The role requires strong clinical judgment, independent management of routine and high-risk obstetric patients, and collaboration with obstetric, anesthesia, neonatal intensive care, and interdisciplinary teams.

Job Details

• Required Qualifications: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications; minimum of 2 years of recent Labor and Delivery experience in an acute-care setting; experience caring for two patients in Labor and Delivery; demonstrated ability to independently manage laboring patients, including high-risk obstetric cases; strong skills in fetal monitoring and interpretation, labor support and coaching, medication administration, intravenous therapy, obstetric emergencies, and rapid response; excellent communication, critical-thinking, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
• Preferred Qualifications: Certification in Electronic Fetal Heart Monitoring (C-EFM) and Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses fetal heart monitoring certification preferred; experience with electronic medical records preferred.
• Schedule: Day shift, 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., three 12-hour shifts per week, with 36 hours per week; rotating weekend hours and required call.
• Additional Information: Provides care for laboring, delivering, and immediate postpartum patients, including high-risk obstetric cases. Responsibilities include fetal monitoring, labor support and coaching, medication administration, intravenous therapy, recognition and response to obstetric emergencies, and collaboration with obstetric providers, anesthesia, neonatal intensive care, and interdisciplinary teams. The role supports care for patients in Labor and Delivery and Antepartum settings, with patient assignments typically including two patients in Labor and Delivery and three to four patients in Antepartum. Flu vaccination is required for travelers from November 1 through April 1; exemptions require approval. The role requires comfort working in a team-based, high-acuity environment while also managing patients independently and adapting to new workflows, policies, and electronic medical records.
