Maintenance Technician - 1st shift

Job TitlePerform skilled maintenance and mechanical activities to ensure all manufacturing equipment operates safely, effectively, and efficiently.Job DescriptionInstall, repair, and rebuild machinery, including performing preventative maintenance, overhauls, modifications, fabrication, welding, and troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical systems. Construct machine guards and shields and complete facility maintenance tasks as needed. Work independently on routine assignments and serve as a resource for less experienced team members.Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerform planned, unplanned, and emergency maintenance and repairs on production, processing, packaging, and utility equipment following all safety proceduresConduct preventative maintenance and routine inspections to assess equipment reliability and performanceRead and interpret technical procedures, electrical schematics, service manuals, and work orders to complete maintenance tasksInstall new equipment and assist with equipment changeoversDiagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical failures to minimize downtimeTrain operators and maintenance personnel on equipment operation and troubleshooting techniquesService facility systems such as HVAC, boilers, water softeners, and basic plumbing as neededComplete work orders accurately and document all repairs and maintenance activities in accordance with standard operating proceduresMaintain communication with other departments and management regarding equipment status and production impactUtilize continuous improvement mindset to identify and recommend process improvementsEducation and ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED requiredCompletion of an associate degree in a technical field such as Electro-Mechanical Technology, Industrial Maintenance Mechanic, Automation or related discipline or 8+ years of hands-on maintenance experience without a degree2 to 4 years of experience performing maintenance activities involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, computer-controlled equipment, PLC, and HVAC systems, preferably in a manufacturing environmentExperience working with a variety of equipment including lubrication, cleaning, material handling, motor control, relay control, process control, and packaging equipmentForklift certification may be requiredAdditional certifications or licenses may be required during employmentQualificationsProficient in reading and interpreting charts, tables, drawings, specifications, schedules, wiring diagrams, and technical manualsProficient in diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues and taking corrective action to prevent equipment downtimeSkilled in using maintenance tools, hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment safelyAbility to perform maintenance activities and repairs independently and assist on complex repairsAbility to plan and execute minor to mid-sized projects from start to installationStrong problem-solving skills with the ability to present options and ideas for process improvementsAbility to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a team environmentIntermediate math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimalsBasic computer skills, including familiarity with maintenance work order systems and Microsoft Office applicationsMust be able to read, write and speak EnglishBenefits and PerksComprehensive medical, dental, and vision insuranceCompany-provided short-term disability, long-term disability, and life insurance401(k) with company matchGenerous vacation time and sick time7 paid holidays annuallyCareer advancement and training opportunities within a stable, growing organizationPaid uniforms, safety toe shoes, and prescription safety eyewearBenefits available following eligibility requirementsConditions of EmploymentEmployment is contingent upon the successful completion of post-offer, pre-employment requirements, which may include a background check, employment and education verification, and a drug screen, as permitted by law.
